Ashtanga Practice
lteaching group & individual guidance
Ashtanga Yoga is a structured and dynamic form of practicing yoga postures
Mysore practice is a unique approach to learning Yoga.
Ashtanga yoga is the yoga of mediation. Traditional Ashtanga Yoga practices include breathing, body, mind, mindfulness and concentration exercises.
Pranayama (breathing exercises), chanting and the practice of Vinaýasa, the connection of breath and movement, interweave in the sequenced and structured progression ("krama") of asana (postures).
n the tradition of personal transmission of knowledge and experience from teacher to student, Ashtanga Yoga is taught using two methods:
Ashtanga Mysore: The practice takes place independently - positions, breathing rhythm, as well as the beginning and duration of the practice are determined by yourself. The teacher supports with corrections and practical tips. The Mysore style is the focus of the yoga classes. Pranyama (breathing exercises), meditation and chanting (singing) are integrated into traditional Ashtanga Yoga.
Ashtanga guided / led: The teacher verbally specifies the positions and breathing rhythm in order to practice breath control and endurance. Guided Ashtanga Yoga offers enough space to repeat the basics.

Due to the countless interpretations of these texts and of course the fact that
they are written in different languages the contemporary reader may easily get
confused by them. So at the beginning one should be focused on practice since
the texts originate in those very practices which should generally be performed
with utmost attentiveness. The pictures of yoga poses should be understood as
providing guidance not as a depiction of your own asana (yoga posture).

concentarion and mediation
Ashtanga Yoga series consists of several different asana sequences which can be interpreted as an asana sequence. The transition from one asana to the next
realized through the unity of breath, movement and focus is challenging and
should be practiced. The experience of the so called flow is meditation.
Attentiveness and concentration are very important when performing the
exercises. The therapeutic aspects and one's own embodiment will be felt
immediately and the quality of life will improve no matter at which age you start
practicing ashtange yoga!
improved circulation, a light and strong body, and a calm mind.
Through synchronizing the breath with postures and movement intense internal
heat is created that produces purifying sweat detoxifying muscles and organs.
The result is improved circulation, a light and strong body, and a calm mind.
The most “important” Ashtanga series are the first and the second:
Mastering a series can take many years, depending on physical ability anddedication to the practice. Bear in mind, yoga is not about physicalachievements..
The first:
Roga Chikitsa (Treatment of deseases, First or Main-series of Ashtanga Yoga)
The second:
Nadi Shodana (Cleansing of the nerves, Second or Intermediate - Series)
Then there are further advanced Ashtanga Series:
Sthira Bhaga A (Third Series, divine steadiness) and B, C, D (Fourth, Fith, Sixth)
