Focus on correct practice of asana (yoga exercise, posture) and then more and more harmony of regular and deep breathing and movement with a clear focus. The breath carries every movement.
Ashtanga Yoga programs live or online or bouth, basic courses and private lessons supports tyour independent yoga practice.
Ashtanga Yoga is often perceived as a strong physical practice at the beginning, as the process is dynamic and brings up a lot of body heat. The challenge of each individual is to find the inner and outer attitude towards yoga postures and breathing in accordance with one's own possibilities. Concentration and regular practice of this attitude lead to very gentle, easy, meditative and healing practice.

Ashtanga Yoga classes in the tradition of Sri K. Pattabhi Jois (Mysore Style)
The following topics of Ashtanga Yoga are covered in yoga classes:
-
Basics of the Ashtanga Yoga method: ujjayi breathing, bandha , dristi , vinyasa and tristana ; mantra.
-
Ashtanga Yoga First Series: Sun Salutation A and Sun Salutation B;
-
Structure and sequence of the order (Ashtanga Yoga series) of the standing positions, the sitting positions and the final positions; important details on individual positions and person-specific variations (especially in the case of injuries, pregnancy). Y
-
oga breathing ( pranayama ).
In Ashtanga Yoga Sequence (Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga) you remain in each yoga exercise ( asana ) minimum 5 breaths and the various physical exercises (postures, asana ) are connected in the harmony of breath and movement. You move and breath from one positions to an other while maintaining focus (drishti, focusing your gaze) and certain breathing techniques (ujjayi pranayam). The flow (meditation) is created by breathing (life), movement (action), focus (direction of view), thoughts switch off and the head becomes free and clear.
Before you start your yoga practice
Before the yoga class (practice) you should not eat for at least 2 hours (large meals up to 4 hours so that the digestive system stops working).
Before yoga class it is good to take a shower or a hot bath, especially in the morning. On the one hand, this is ideal for warming up the muscles, on the other hand, it supports the detoxification process that is initiated by sweating in Ashtanga Yoga. In order not to disturb these processes, it is advisable to wait at least an hour before showering after the yoga practice.
What should I take with me to the yoga class?
Bring a towel and possibly your own yoga mat to the yoga class. Comfortable clothing.
Before, during and after Ashtanga Yoga classes for beginners
Please make sure to ask immediately if you have severe tension, certain known injuries, discomfort in certain positions, pregnancy, acute pain or illness. The positions must be varied or replaced in certain cases. Ashtanga Yoga is primarily to be regarded as Yoga Therapy for yoga beginners . Difficult or certain positions ( asana ) have to be prepared over the years. These can only develop their positive effect if they are carried out with mindfulness and dosed strength - which comes through the breath and bandha (locks).
Ashtanga Yoga Beginners – Keep in Mind
Continuous and slowly building practice is important.
The development of one's own practice is not linear. At the beginning (up to 1 year) you usually make the greatest progress; the body changes a lot and the asana practice is in the foreground. The body and the breath have become stronger. The meditative aspects come with time. The breath becomes the key.
The continuous practice is of great importance for one's own cleansing and healing process. The lightness and strength experienced as a result can be felt on all levels and should not be overestimated personally. The most important chakra in yoga is the heart chakra and love and mindfulness in one's practice is a beautiful and enjoyable way to learn Ashtanga Yoga.

Women should not practice Ashtanga Yoga the day before menstruation or at least the first few days. Gentle practice (“moon practice”) is recommended here, which is even very supportive during this period.
During pregnancy one can continue with the practice if Ashtanga Yoga has already been practiced before. Certain yoga exercises must be varied.
Yoga cannot replace a trained doctor. In the event of tension, injuries, malaise, pregnancy, acute pain or illness, the teacher must be informed immediately. Participation in the offers listed here requires medical approval.
